Meet the FPA Podcast LIVE! Lineup

DWB Bio PhotoRev. David W. Brown is the Executive Director of the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children (WePAC) – a nonprofit focused on child literacy by opening and operating previously closed public elementary school libraries. He is also Founder of The Marketing Collaborative – a non-profit that provides strategic marketing services to other Philadelphia non-profits. He has been named a “Champion of Change” by the White House for his communications work around empowering non-profits to make a difference in the communities they serve.

ColemanTimothy Colman is a writer and a grassroots fundraiser with the Philadelphia Student Union. His fiction, non-fiction, and poetry have been published in APIARY Magazine, Journal of Aesthetics & Protest, Make/shift, Tikkun, and The Revolution Starts at Home. His work has been recognized by the Leeway Foundation’s Trans Literary Salon, the William Plummer Plotter Prize, and Stone Circles at The Stone House.
 
 
dave daviesDave Davies has covered local politics and government in Philadelphia for more than 25 years. He loves the speed, reach and versatility of the net but believes journalists should still check their facts, give folks in the hot seat their say, and think before they hit Send. He’ll write about local and national topics. Dave is currently senior reporter for WHYY, and a contributor and fill-in host for Fresh Air with Terry Gross. He was reporter and columnist for the Philadelphia Daily News for 19 years, and before that was city hall bureau chief for KYW News Radio and city hall correspondent for WHYY. He’s a Texas native who’s spent his working life in Philadelphia. Before getting into journalism, he worked as a teacher, cab driver and welder.

image (1)Linda Holtzman is the rabbi of the newly founded Tikkun Olam Chavurah and is on the faculty of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical College. She is the founder and organizer of the Reconstructionist Chevra Kadisha of Philadelphia, on the board of Philadelphia’s New Sanctuary Movement and the anti-gun violence group Heeding God’s Call, a member of POWER, and on the national board of Jewish Voice for Peace.

MarissaMarissa Johnson-Valenzuela‘s writing has been recognized by The Leeway Foundation, Hedgebrook and others and her work has been published in Make/shift, Aster(ix), Apiary, Big Bell, As Us Journal and other venues. She is a founder of Thread Makes Blanket press which most recently published Dismantle, an anthology of work from VONA, a workshop for writers of color. As part of her teaching at Community College of Philadelphia, Marissa teaches in Philadelphia jails. She was recently featured as an “Emerging Philadelphia Writer” on WXPN as part of Live at the Kelly Writers House, a program from UPENN. She is working on her first novel.

Podcast Live_Yowei Shaw_credit Carina Romano_2Yowei Shaw is an independent radio producer based in Philadelphia. Her work has been featured on This American Life, NPR, Studio 360, The World, and many other places. Yowei is currently the Executive Producer of the First Person Arts Podcast and has also worked as an Associate Producer for NPR’s Fresh Air with Terry Gross and NPR’s World Cafe with David Dye. She’s received a National Journalism Award from Asian American Journalists Association, an Honorable Mention for Best Documentary award from Third Coast International Audio Festival, and was a recipient of the 2013 Leeway Foundation Transformation Award. yoweishaw.com
